Priya Kaur-Jones has just joined GMTV as one of the new Reporters and news presenters. Before this Priya worked at the BBC where she was the youngest presenter on the BBC's Politics Show team.
Prior to moving back to the BBC in November 2006, Priya spent a year at Five News as a presenter and reporter.
As well as reporting and presenting on television, Priya has also hosted numerous events, recently including the First Enterprise Ethnic Minority Business Awards in Nottingham.
Priya started her career studying for a genetics degree, focusing on HIV and Cancer at the University of Nottingham, and then moved on to a postgraduate diploma in Broadcast Journalism, at the Northern Media school in Sheffield.
From there she secured her first job in broadcasting working as a reporter and news reader for the Lincs FM Radio Group and after six months moved to the BBC Asian Network in 2002 as their East Midlands regional reporter.
Here Priya built relationships within the Asian Community and focused on their attitudes and reactions to stories including the Iraq war, on which she produced a series of reports that were used across the BBC.
Priya is also known for hosting Miss India UK for the past 2 years. She was also runner-up in the competition in 2001.
A passionate fan of most sports, Priya is particularly fond of Squash and Formula 1, passions the whole family shares! She spent 2 years covering squash for the BBC at the major UK tournaments. In her spare time, she loves heading off for motor racing circuits around the world to watch the Grand Prix, and has this year been working with former Le Mans rally winner Nick Potter and his motor racing teams on their PR.
She's passionate about travel whether it be relaxing on the beaches of Goa, crossing Siberia on a train, or trekking to base camp Everest which she did recently raising nearly £15,000 for various charities.
